Tourism packages and programs

Under this program our organization runs a project which is known as Experience Lilinga Cultural Tourism Program that offers remarkable experience of Iringa, its people, their history, and every element of their culture. The following services are offered under this project;

Camping and Bonfire

The program offers guests camping events that will be done outside town, accompanied with bonfire activities; Local music and dances, Foods and drinks, and Stories about Iringa and Tanzanians’ cultures. Only for $ 150 per individual and $ 50 per individual in a group of 4 – 5.

Local music and Dances

These types of dances are performed in weddings and various local celebrations. The guest can follow the drumbeats and let the tribal dancers interpret the music and performances. Only for $ 30 per individual and 15$ per individual in a group of 4 people.

Isimila Tour

The program offers an organized tour to Isimila Rock Pillars that have been formed due to the act of land degradation; the pillars provide great scenery as a tourist trails between routes that pass between the huge pillars, allowing perfect points for snap shots.

Also the tourist will get an opportunity to learn and experience different local tools used by various tribes that lived in the area years back. It is only $ 27 per individual (including an entry fee and public transport).

Biking Tour to Gangilonga

First morning biking for sun rise, coffee, traditional dance and music from our local band and later there will be lunch at the local canteen.

Second evening biking, there will be a visitation to Gangilonga rock with accompany of “Dodoma wine” with traditional music, dances, and sunset viewing. Only $ 30 per individual (including an entry fee).

Day Trip to Kalenga History Site

Kalenga carries the rich history of Chief Mkwawa and the ways of Hehe people, the chief tribe in Iringa. For the expense of $ 28 per individual tourist including transport and entry fee.

Handcrafts Exhibition

The program offers handcrafts exhibition displaying locally made products including rubber sandals, pots, cooking items, body accessories, and Vitenge products including clothes, bags, sheets and key holders - $ 15 per individual

This will include a short town walking tour to handcraft workshops and local markets to see varieties of other local made products.

Night Experience

The program offers tours to places like pubs, clubs, designed cocktail parties, live bands and big musical performances (this is according to the time of event) - $ 10 per individual and $ 5 per group of 3 – 5 people.

Also in every Saturday (reggae night) and Sunday (Hip Hop and Tanzanian music) at Kona Garden for the aim of adjusting Iringa youths’ talents and tourists’ enjoyments - $ 3 entry fee.

Maasai Boma Tour

The organization also offer a tour to Maasai Bomas which are located few kilometers from Iringa Urban area. During the tour you will enjoy the beautiful nature of Iringa region, tradition dances, food, clothes and decorations, and other cultures of Maasai people. To experience this, it is only 40$ per individual, or 25$ per individual in a group of 4 people (this includes transport fee).

Hiking

Visitors will be able to get a high view of Iringa town, large natural stones, caves, old trees, rivers schemes, little animals and farms. All this will go with old stories, folklores, photography, meals and drinks as well

·         Simple hiking- Mount Kiboya (Mtwivila) - $ 28 per individual including the entry fee

·         Hard hiking-Kigonzile Mountain - $ 35 per individual including the entry fee

·         Evening walk at Iringa University forest - $ 15 per individual including the entry fee

 

Preparation of local foods and brews

A life time chance to witness, participate and taste in; local brews including “Ulanzi”, “Komoni” and “Msabe” - depending on the session. The package includes traditional meal - “Makande”, the mixture of boiled beans and corns. Only for $ 40 per individual tourist and $ 20 per individuals in a group of 5.

Sports and Events

This will involve jogging, street soccer using locally made balls known as “Chandimu” for men/boys and “rede” as well as other preferred choices for women/girls - $ 12 per individual.

Tour to weekly events known as “Mnada” at Ingingilanyi and “Ipogolo” where different kinds of business intercultural activities take place, giving the visitor a chance to see and buy locally made products, also to have a taste of locally food and drinks – $ 25 per day trip

City biking tour

The program offers guests unique city biking tours to around Iringa municipality while offering interesting stories filled with overwhelming history, uniqueness and cultural authentic values. Biking tours will include two routes; Nduli Airport route - 20.3km, Isakalilo route- from town center - 18.0km. Its only $ 30 per individual.
